In our last Making a Difference blog post we mentioned some horrifying statistics about the amount of people with a lack of access to clean water. We would now just like to take a few minutes to showcase another organization that fighting to reduce the statistics and better people’s lives.
Meet Jake Sherley. When Jake started up Thorn Clothing he was just going through the motions. He was making sales, expanding the company, yada, yada, yada. Then, slowly but surely, Jake wanted something more and decided to pick a humanitarian project to fund through his clothing company. He had the fortunate opportunity to actually go and visit the people who he had been helping to support. Jake was deeply moved, and Love-Water Clothing and Merchandise was formed. Love-Water is a company that strives to give life to many different people around the world through the access to safe, clean water. Originally in Zambia, Africa, Love-Water is also building relationships in Mexico and hopes to start there soon. They also work here in the United States, helping elderly and low income communities by maintaining and aiding programs which provide meals, after school programs, and other services to the community. Through the sales that they make, they give back to the global community, in the hope of creating a better place.
Here at Barnabas, 10% of all sales go to support Living Room International, a non-profit based in Western Kenya, working with men, women, and children living with HIV. But we aren’t the only ones out there that are trying to make a difference, and we want to highlight others that are. Love-Water, birthed from Thorn Clothing, is doing just that. They are, themselves, striving to make a difference, striving to make a change, and if you would like to help them, buy one of their products, or simply donate to their cause. Please visit www.love-water.org, and look up Jake’s story while you are at it, because it’s pretty cool.
